Titan: Open Beta (Last Updated On 25/12/21) File-GZDoom Launcher Mod For Doom Finally, after almost 2 years of hiatus... Titan's is getting a new update! As many of you may have noticed, I've been very busy updating several projects while I was on quarantine. This, along with the unexpected attention Doosk received from both newbloods and the media, made it so that I was able to focus more on Doosk than the project. I'm now able to work on Titan again, having completed all of the previously mentioned projects. Plus, the government began to be less restrictive regarding the pandemic thing so I can travel with my friend and complete the last of my rips since 2019, right before the pandemic. It's been a long hiatus, but now i've decided to finally update the mod with some features... What can you expect from Open beta? Well... * Upgradeable weapons (with placeholders) Since it's been so far since the last update, and because of the pandemic, i've decided that I'll rip the weapon upgrades off my computer. This will allow me to make low quality animations for the beta builds. These placeholders sprites were created to allow me to concentrate on making the "true weapons sprite breaks" at my friend’s computer. I can also save time for future updates since I'll have the code already done. The placeholder sprites were ripped at 36 fps on my computer, with some framerates drops, and the placeholders won't include optimized sprites because, well, they are placeholders and those sprites are meant to be replaced with high quality rips sometime next year. (Sometime on february i'll go back to my friend house so I can continue the ripping work there.) * Upgrade tokens / Upgrade Menu Ok, how can I upgrade the weapons? The mod will include an upgrade menu which will allow you to select which weapons you want upgraded and which you wish to purchase. There are so many weapon spawns in the mod, it will also have an upgrade menu. These unlockable weapons aren't required to complete the campaign and they can't be picked up on campaign, so they're optional. Normal mode will give you upgrade tokens. You can get them by picking up keys, completing levels, and finding all secrets/items. If you complete the level, you can earn up to 9 tokens. You'll also be granted an additional token for each key you find. The progression is well-designed to unlock all levels in a 20-30 level playthrough. Arcade mode allows you to upgrade your weapons in a different way. This mode is restricted to your current arcade score or combos. So, the more you kill, the faster you will achieve the required high scores to unlock extra weapons, and the higher your 32x combo kills is, the faster you will unlock weapon upgrades. Arcade mode will unlock weapon upgrades in a particular order. The upgrade menu is locked so make sure you start creating combos! Oldschool is an unique mode in which all upgrade mechanics are locked, so you won't be able to upgrade any weapon at all. It is oldschool =P (Upgrades?) These were not available in the 90s! * Toggeable angled/centered plasma projectiles/plasma rockets I was annoyed by it too =P Players now have the option of switching between angled or centered projectiles for rockets or plasma weapons. This will prevent any projectile misbehaving and hugging walls, at the expense projectile spawning at incorrect offsets. * Toggeable weapon hitsounds You can make the weapon play a specific sound when a projectile or hitscan hits a monster, (or another player) * Optional 360p Sprites Titan's weapons can be enjoyed as if you have never seen them before. The resolutions are less chunky and offer a good balance between quality, performance, and quality. The mod will now feature optional 360p sprites, for those who have powerful computers that can handle high resolution sprites. Be aware: Since i'm releasing this high res pack earlier than intended, some things may change on later versions of the game, like weapon upgrades sprites and stuff, therefore this optional pack might not work on future updates. If this happens, you can download the file again. I will most probably reupload them each time they get updated until they reach a stable status where they will no longer require updates. * Zandronum support. Although this mod was originally designed for singleplayer, it now officially supports zandronum sourceport. This means that you can enjoy fragfest with your friends or something. GZDoom should still be used for singleplayer experiences. But, I wouldn't blame anyone if you want bot-based skirmishes. * Redesigned oldschool mode now with centered weapon! (Work in progress) Yeah, you read that right, the mod now features optional centered weapons, so you can experience the oldschool experience like the way it was always meant to be =P Oldschool mode is unique as all weapon upgrades will remain locked. You cannot upgrade your weapons. Quick switching, weapon melee, and grenade throw functions are disabled. You'll need to wait until the weapon's fire animation has completed before you can switch weapons. So, we're diving into the oldschool experience. For those who wants some extra challenge or are too oldschool for their own good, like I am sometimes =P So, yeah. Open beta comes full with some cool new features. But wait! I hear you asking, Is this all the mod has for me? Will I have to wait again another two years for the next update? I'm about to tell all of you when the update will be available. Sometime on 2021. Yep, 2021. That means, you won't have to wait that much longer for the upcoming update. Then, what to expect for the future of this mod? * I want all weapon upgrades to be completed by 2022. Welcome to tlauncher club By that I mean, delete all placeholder upgrades and replace them with finished and polished sprites. Once all placeholder upgrades are deleted, you can then release the optional 640p Sprites with even higher resolutions to "top of the range" computers that can handle them. My computer cannot handle them. If you can run them without any problems, then you can claim that you have a better computer than mine =P This would be it for 2022, I believe. * I would like to have optional Doom 2016 monsters in the future. Yes, I'll be working towards them. I might not have all the monsters, but I'll try to achieve a nice monster roster. Ripped at 18fps, to save some filesize while also keeping them smooth enough, at a decent sprite scale. I found a mod that allowed me play with doom 2016 beasts in serious sam 3. I happen to own serious Sam 3. I opened the editor to see the models. I will give it a shot. However, custom monsters will not be a feature until the very distant future. Don't expect them to appear before 2022. I have completed only two monster rips so far: cacodemon and lost soul. Then, after monsters are done, then I hope the mod will have a custom mapset? Question mark. It is something I would like, but I don’t know if I’m capable of creating a custom campaign. Worst-case scenario, I could ask them for permission or ask someone else if they let me use their campaign as an Addon. If not, I could also find anyone who is willing to create a custom Campaign for it. I haven't completed the mapset I planned for Doosk so I will likely focus on those maps first and then see what happens for Titan. Although it is unlikely that a mapset will ever be created, it is part of the plan. It is unlikely that I will see it anytime soon, if at all. So, that's the current plan to Titan. There are many updates planned for future. A new update will be available this year. Another upgrade is granted for 2022. Don't worry, I won’t make you wait another 2 years for the next update. You might have to wait for the monsters. Ripping monsters by myself is a difficult job. It's not a job I get paid for, so it's a passion project of mine that I enjoy making, even though it takes me many years to update.
