Minecraft: How To Create & Play On A Private Server It's no secret that a lot of Minecraft's charm comes from the ability of users to play online with their friends. There is no limit to how much fun you can have in Minecraft. Private servers allow friends to have fun in a safe digital environment without having to worry about strangers and other factors affecting their enjoyment of Minecraft. You'll need to ensure you have the most recent versions of Java and Minecraft installed before you can host your friends on your personal server. Click on the launcher to install the game and wait for it to update automatically. Java is available in Internet Explorer. Click here. Follow the prompts and click "Agree and Proceed". If nothing happens, Java is up-to date. Next, create a folder in your desktop to make it easy to find the files you are about to download. Go here and click on "minecraft_server.1.12.2.jar" to begin downloading the file. Place it in the desktop folder that you just created. Once the JAR file has been placed where it belongs, you can create a file in the folder. If you are unsure how to do this, click on "Home" in the folder window and then "New Item" under the "New" section. The drop-down menu should allow you to create your text file. Copy the red highlighted text and go back to the website from which you downloaded the JAR. Copy this command and paste it into the text file you just created in the folder. Once you are satisfied that the red text is visible in the file, you can save it as a BAT file by clicking on "File" then "Save as". Beside your JAR file should now appear an image with a couple of gears in it. Double-click on your newly created BAT file to prompt the creation of your very own Minecraft private server. minecraft servers Several files will be created once the server has completed manifesting itself. Now, you should see one text file called "eula". Click this to take your computer into Notepad. You can indicate that you have read and accepted the End User License Agreement. Change the section that says "eula=false” to "eula=true", then save and close your document. Double-click on your BAT file again to allow your server setup to resume and if prompted, click "Allow Access" to complete the process. With all that out of the way, it's time to actually connect to your personal server and play! Click "Play" and open Minecraft as usual. Click "Multiplayer," then select "Direct Connect" towards the bottom. A text box will open, and you can type "localhost" into it. Click "Join Server" at bottom to open the server that you have been hosting. It would be even better if you had friends along. You must first ensure that port forwarding is enabled on the router or that an exception has been made in your firewall to invite them to your private servers. Open your router's webpage and click on the "Port forwarding" section. minecraft servers You can create a new rule, such as "Minecraft", that you will remember. Make sure your protocol is set at "TCP" by setting the entry and exit ports to 25565. Save your router and reboot it if necessary. Click here to get your public IP address. Make sure that you're giving out this line of text only to trusted people, as anyone with this address can join your game. For your friends to join your private game server, you can send their IP information. If they don't know how to do this, let them click on "Multiplayer," then click "Direct Connect," then enter their IP address. They should be able join you in-game within a few seconds. There you have it. It is important to only give this IP address out to trusted people. Now, you can enjoy your private server with your friends. Twinfinite offers more helpful guides.
